Althenia<\/a> and Sando Environment, the company is active in the conservation of a total of 101,643.85 hectares in Spain, with specialised programs and actions directed to the protection of local ecosystems. <\/p>\nIn Andalucia, Sando is involved in twelve separate conservations projects, including the Natural Parks of Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas; Despe\u00f1aperros, Sierra de And\u00fajar and Sierra M\u00e1gina; Sierra Nevada; Sierra de las Nieves; Los Alcornocales; El Estrecho, La Bre\u00f1a and Marismas de Barbate, the Nature Areas of Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja and the Playa de los Lances with additional projects in the Endorreico de Espera Natural Reserve and the Coto de Do\u00f1ana National Park.<\/p>\n
The objectives of each project area unique. For example the project in the Sierra Nevada consists of expanding forested areas through the rehabilitation and diversification of pine forests, while in Cazorla forests have been developed to provide protection for local flora and fauna and prevent soil erosion. <\/p>\n
In Castilla y Leon, Sando is executing projects in the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park, the Valle de Iruelas Nature Reserve and in Pinar de Hoyo Casero. These three actions consist of environmental conservation, maintenance and the rehabilitation of public infrastructure, including the clearing of trails and paths and the installation of signage indicating forest trails, information about native flora and fauna, local geology and ecology. <\/p>\n
In each project, Althenia and Sando Environment develop active conservation programs, supervised by Agricultural and Forestry engineers. Sando employs a broad range of specialised equipment reducing the environmental impact of its actions to a minimum. <\/p>\n
As World Environment Day, June 5th is an ideal date to celebrate our forests, ecosystems providing rich biological diversity and representing 31% of the total surface of the Earth.<\/p>\n
