{"id":21095,"date":"2012-09-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sando.com\/actualidad\/the-adviser-to-the-ministry-for-agriculture-fisheries-and-the-environment-presents-the-abc-sando-1st-prize-for-sustainable-construction"},"modified":"2024-10-29T10:38:21","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T10:38:21","slug":"the-adviser-to-the-ministry-for-agriculture-fisheries-and-the-environment-presents-the-abc-sando-1st-prize-for-sustainable-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/actualidad\/the-adviser-to-the-ministry-for-agriculture-fisheries-and-the-environment-presents-the-abc-sando-1st-prize-for-sustainable-construction","title":{"rendered":"The adviser to the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment presents the ABC-Sando 1st Prize for Sustainable Construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the award ceremony, a video of the winning project was shown, \u201cIntervention in Millennium Square and surroundings in Valladolid\u201d<br \/>\nYesterday evening at 9.15 pm, as prearranged, the Vice-President and Chief Executive of Sando, Luis S\u00e1nchez Manzano, opened the award ceremony for the presentation of the ABC and Sando 1st Prize for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/sustainability\/sustainable-construction\" title=\"At Sando we are leaders in sustainable construction\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainable construction<\/a> at the Picasso Museum\u2019s auditorium in Malaga.<\/p>\n<p>In his welcoming speech he emphasized the significance of the word \u201c<a href=\"\/en\/sustainability\" title=\"Sustainable and efficient environmental solutions\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainability<\/a>\u201d as seen on the advertising and marketing media and outlined the winning project\u2019s merits, \u201cIntervention in Millennium Square and surroundings in Valladolid\u201d, such as their use of innovation and efficiency by using natural resources, recycling materials and their methods of using transportation rationally, among other aspects.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of ABC, the Chairperson, Catalina Luca de Tena, valued the importance of sustainable construction in times of crisis and highlighted the evolutionary capacity of architecture when regard to infrastructure design and the ability to adapt towns and cities to their environment. She also highlighted the work carried out by members of the jury panel faced with the task of deciding upon the winner.<\/p>\n<p>Architects, Sara Delgado V\u00e1zquez and Juan Carlos Delgado Manrique, of DAD Arquitectura Studies, EXP Architectes and CLOUD9 were chosen to accept the award which was presented by Luis Planas Puchades from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment. Both architects expressed their gratitude for the award and expanded on those features which converted their project into a good example of sustainable construction.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Luis Planas Puchades, closed the ceremony with a speech reminding everyone of the board\u2019s commitment to create efficient and carefully managed eco-systems within our urban environment. With this in mind, and after showing images of the winning project, he promised he would go to Valladolid to take a look for himself. <\/p>\n<p>The project \u201cIntervention in Millennium Square and surroundings in Valladolid\u201d consists in building an underground public car park in Valladolid and the subsequent urbanisation of the square where it will be built. Above the parking zones, the architects have designed a unique multi-functional building in the form of a dome, made out of recycled materials from the Sed Pavilion situated at the Expo in Zaragoza. Surrounding the dome are wide public spaces with fountains and vegetation which connect to the banks of the river Pisuerga.<\/p>\n<p>Sando is a leading international construction company, noted for
