During the week, the entourage were taken to see the installations built at Malaga Metro, the Airport and Malaga Port.
\nA number of delegates from the Government of Cuba including top officials in the field of mobility and transport visited the head office of the Sando group of companies in Malaga. They also toured some of the most important infrastructure in the city which the company took part in building, such as the Metro, the Airport and the Port.<\/p>\n
The aim of this return visit, organised by the consulting firm Urbatrans Caribe, was for the Cuban technical experts, engineers and operational managers to have the opportunity to see in situ the best technology and operational systems connected to the transport sector in Spain.<\/p>\n
The delegation was met at the head office of the Sando group of companies, where the chairman, Jos\u00e9 Luis S\u00e1nchez Dom\u00ednguez, accompanied by the vice-chairman and managing director, Luis S\u00e1nchez Manzano, and the managing director of International Development, Diego Varona Fidalgo, exchanged ideas about structural needs in the Central American country. <\/p>\n
The delegation from the Cuban Government consisted of the Director of Planning and Development and the Director for General Regional Transport Operations in Havana, Guadalupe Rodr\u00edguez; the Investment Director from the Railway<\/a> Union in Cuba, Ricardo Aguiar; the Travel Director from the Ministry of Transport in Cuba, \u00d3scar Carbajal; the Assistant Director from the Railway Union in Cuba, Rub\u00e9n Morales; the Head of Research from the Transport Research Institute, Julio Cabrera, and the International Representative from the Chamber of Commerce from the Republic of Cuba, Lourdes Morell.<\/p>\n The first installations to be visited were those of Malaga Metro. The Managing Director, Fernando Lozano, explained the complete project to them from the central control unit (PPC) and how the system works from a technical angle. The delegation was shown around the workshop warehouses and engine shed travelling by metro to the station at El Perchel.<\/p>\n At Malaga airport the entourage concentrated on the Technical Block in the new Third Terminal. The Head of Operations, Ana Rinc\u00f3n, showed them round the Operations Centre, the Management Centre in Real Time, the Automatic Luggage System and the Interchanger. The tour finished at the Suburbs Station where they were shown how construction of the tunnel was carried out underneath the second track and underground station.<\/p>\n The last stop on their visit was to Malaga Port, where Manuel Guti\u00e9rrez, the Managing Director of Malaga Port, and Jos\u00e9 Moyano, the director of the Port Authorities, gave a presentation about the history of the area and the huge remodelling project which was undertaken during the last ten years. Finally, the delegation was taken to the Levante dock and was shown how the Cruise Ship Terminal works.<\/p>\n The delegation from the Cuban Government set off back home today, after they had been shown the infrastructure and transport systems in several other cities in the country over the last eleven days.<\/p>\n
