The company, Sando, through their company that specializes in conservation (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/conacon-sando\" title=\"Sustainable infrastructure maintenance and energy solutions\" target=\"_blank\">Conacon<\/a>), and with financial backing from the CTA (Andalusia Technology Corporation), has carried out a technical viability study, called \u201cGENESI\u201d, to develop this task without leaving a footprint on the ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>The GENESI project \u201cUse of silent and non-contaminating power generators for conservation work in urban environments\u201d, has studied the energy needs of the machinery used for <a href=\"\/en\/specialisations\/urban-conservation-and-smart-cities\" title=\"Urban conservation\" target=\"_blank\">Urban conservation<\/a> and alternative ways with the use of their own power generators which do not use fossil fuels. <\/p>\n<p>During the six month period the project lasted, different types of batteries available on the market were assessed, by looking into their energy density characteristics, autonomy, size, weight and materials contained, such as lithium and cobalt, titanium, polymer lithium, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The Project has demonstrated that a silent power generator would produce less environmental impact, by eliminating noise and contaminating gas emissions, would reduce the risk of fire and explosion, could be used in closed spaces, would lead to energy cost savings, and could be used in any climatic conditions.<\/p>\n<p>From an environmental point of view, using the technology proposed, approximately 2,760 kg of CO2 would cease to be emitted into the atmosphere for each conventional generator. For conservation services using three generators, the reduction would amount to 8,280 kg of CO2 per year.<\/p>\n<p>The results of the study indicate, from an environmental point of view, that the use of this type of power generator comprising batteries and an inverter, is completely viable. Nowadays, the cost of this technology is more, compared to combustion engines, although that is not an all-out impediment, especially with continual progress being made in the manufacturing of batteries.<\/p>\n<p>The company, therefore, is keen to find ways of being different in their sector. And this, they do with the aid of technology, by applying innovative work processes, and being able to offer their clients a competitive edge which, at the same time, has beneficial repercussions on the wellbeing of the people who live in towns and cities.<\/p>\n<p>With more than forty years\u2019 experience in the construction sector, the Sando Group of companies has completed hundreds of road conservation projects, and each time, they have come up with efficient and sustainable money-saving measures for the Public Authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The Building and Civil Engineering Works sector is one of the seven strategic areas for the CTA (Andalusia Technology Corporation), which has already financed 37 research, development and innovation projects in this sector with an investment of over 7 million euros, and mobilised 21 million euros of private investment destined for innovation.
