This tunnel, built by Sando in a joint venture, belongs to the Grimaldo-Casas de Mill\u00e1n section.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">His Majesty King Felipe VI, accompanied by the President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamoncloa.gob.es\/Paginas\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Government<\/a>, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, travelled by train along this first phase of the Madrid-Extremadura High-Speed Line. The <a href=\"https:\/\/sede.mitma.gob.es\/sede_electronica\/lang_castellano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agend<\/a>a (Mitma), Raquel S\u00e1nchez, and the President of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juntaex.es\/web\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Regional Government of Extremadura<\/a>, Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez Vara, among other authorities, also took part in the inauguration ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As the Ministry has informed, these first 150 kilometres of high-speed platform in Extremadura will allow mixed passenger and freight traffic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Santa Marina tunnel<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Santa Marina tunnel, built by Sando, stands out within the route that has been put into operation. Built entirely in the province of C\u00e1ceres, it crosses the Los Casta\u00f1os pass with a length of 3.4 kilometres. This single-tube tunnel is the longest of the entire Madrid-Extremadura High Speed Line.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The design of the Santa Marina tunnel can accommodate two slab-mounted tracks and has a useful cross-section of 85 m2. It also has two auxiliary evacuation galleries, one 1.3 km long parallel to the tunnel, and another 200 metres long perpendicular to it, as well as two platforms next to each of the tracks that act as evacuation corridors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Largest tunnels in the country\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In recent decades, Sando has participated in the construction of almost all the high speed lines built in Spain.
