A civil works infrastructure executed by <a href=\"\/en\/sando-construccion\" title=\"Sando Construcci\u00f3n. Building resilient and innovative infrastructures\" target=\"_blank\">Sando Construcci\u00f3n<\/a> in a joint venture.<\/p>\n<p>The arrival of the metro in the centre of Malaga means the completion of line 1 and the commissioning of two new stations: Guadalmedina and Atarazanas. The Guadalmedina station is the largest of all Andalusian metro stations, with a depth of 26 metres, a 2,800 m2 concourse and two underground platform levels. For its execution, 120,000 cubic metres of earth were extracted.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony was also attended by the Regional Minister for Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, Marifr\u00e1n Carazo, the Mayor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaga.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malaga<\/a>, Francisco de la Torre, the Government Delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fern\u00e1ndez, and the Government Delegate in Malaga, Patricia Navarro, among other authorities.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Innovation and awards<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Sando has developed several research projects within the joint venture that have materialised the project. Among them is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/es\/sando-innovacion-metro-malaga-alameda-europa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technological Innovation in R&amp;D&amp;I certification<\/a> for designing a construction method to safeguard archaeological remains found during construction.<\/p>\n<p>As a construction company, Sando is the only company that has participated in all underground sections of the Malaga Metro project with various consortiums.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, last year, the Demarcation of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla of the Association of Civil Engineers (CICCP) approved awarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/es\/metro-de-malaga-sando-mejor-obra-publica-andaluza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Best Andalusian Public Work<\/a> prize to the Malaga Metro.
