{"id":38461,"date":"2024-03-08T09:14:23","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T09:14:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/actualidad\/international-womens-day-at-sando"},"modified":"2025-10-07T14:41:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T14:41:40","slug":"international-womens-day-at-sando","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/actualidad\/international-womens-day-at-sando","title":{"rendered":"International Women\u2019s Day at Sando"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 8th March is International Women\u2019s Day, officially declared by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UN<\/a> in 1975, to demand effective equality of rights for women.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-como-estamos-contribuyendo-a-la-igualdad-en-sando\"><strong>How are we contributing to equality at Sando?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>One of Sando\u2019s commitments is to continue to strengthen the presence and opportunities for women in the sector, assuming their role in the great challenge of equality.<\/p>\n\n<p>At Sando, we make communication with the workforce more accessible, improving their knowledge of equal opportunities. We have created and disseminated internal protocols, such as gender-based violence and sexual violence, and training pills are being prepared to raise real awareness of equal opportunities.<\/p>\n\n<p>In recent years, we have implemented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/people\/diversity-and-equality\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">action plans<\/a> within the framework of the equality plan, attracting female talent and promoting women in the sector to gain access to all positions.<\/p>\n\n<p>In this sense, we are updating the selection and training processes to make progress in controlling gender balance indices in sectors where women are under-represented, such as construction, gardening and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/specialisations\/cleaning-and-waste-management\" title=\"Waste management\" target=\"_blank\">Waste<\/a> In addition, we advocate the search for specialised profiles in jobs traditionally occupied by men, such as crane operators.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-comunicacion-y-divulgacion\"><strong>Communication and outreach<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Likewise, one of Sando\u2019s commitments is to make visible the institutional communication actions carried out in collaboration with other organisations, such as those we have developed during 2023:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Presentation at the Round Table of <strong>Women Civil Engineers<\/strong> and, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/organismos\/iam.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Andalusian Institute for Women<\/a> and the College of Engineers of Andalusia on International Women\u2019s Day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Participated in the Technical Guidance Conference on OHS on \u201cPromoting <strong>gender mainstreaming<\/strong>\u201d with Mutua Universal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Awareness-raising campaigns, such as the International Day of <strong>Women and Girls in Science<\/strong>, with the organisation of interviews and information pills with advice from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/signup\/cold-join?session_redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.linkedin.com%2Ffeed%2Fhashtag%2Fmujeresstem&amp;trk=public_post-text\"><strong>#WomenSTEM<\/strong><\/a> in professionals from <a href=\"https:\/\/es.linkedin.com\/company\/sando?trk=public_post-text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>SANDO<\/strong><\/a>, aimed at girls so that they have female role models.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support for the <strong>candidacy of the president of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancisa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ANCI<\/a>,<\/strong> Cocha Santos (National Association of Independent Construction Companies), to be a candidate for the Top 100 Women Leaders to make <strong>female talent <\/strong> in the construction sector more visible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In this sense, the Sando Fundaci\u00f3n is the backbone of Sando\u2019s value creation to address social challenges such as gender equality. This commitment supports educational, cultural or sporting initiatives with a gender focus. These initiatives include the following:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support for <strong>women\u2019s sport<\/strong> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mairenavoley?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mairena Voley Club<\/a> (Seville), <a href=\"https:\/\/cvcuestapiedra.com\/\">Santa Cruz Cuesta Piedra Volleyball Club in Tenerife<\/a>, and with the women\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ClubNovaCartama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">table tennis team of NovaC\u00e1rtama<\/a> (M\u00e1laga), the fourth in the national medal table and the most awarded in Andalusia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recruitment of a <strong>researcher<\/strong> to complete her thesis, supporting her in obtaining the Industrial Mention of the programme from <a href=\"\/en\/sando-agua\" title=\"Sando Agua. Building resilient and innovative infrastructures.\" target=\"_blank\">Sando Agua<\/a>. This action is part of the agreement with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uma.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Malaga<\/a> (UMA) to support the Doctoral School Industrial Thesis programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>In line with its <a href=\"\/en\/sustainability\" title=\"Sustainable and efficient environmental solutions\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainability<\/a> strategy, the Sando Fundaci\u00f3n has been a signatory of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pactomundial.org\/quienes-somos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United Nations Global Compact<\/a><\/strong> for more than 15 years, a commitment to comply with its Ten Principles and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
