{"id":49926,"date":"2025-02-13T12:24:21","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T12:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/actualidad\/sando-construction-to-extend-the-caminito-del-rey-with-the-longest-suspension-footbridge-in-the-country"},"modified":"2025-05-05T07:12:47","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T07:12:47","slug":"sando-construction-to-extend-the-caminito-del-rey-with-the-longest-suspension-footbridge-in-the-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/actualidad\/sando-construction-to-extend-the-caminito-del-rey-with-the-longest-suspension-footbridge-in-the-country","title":{"rendered":"Sando Construction to Extend the Caminito del Rey with the Longest Suspension Footbridge in the Country"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaga.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M\u00e1laga Provincial Government,<\/a> Francisco Salado, has announced the construction of Spain&#8217;s longest suspension footbridge, measuring 110 metres, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/proyectos\/rehabilitation-of-the-caminito-del-rey-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Caminito del Rey.<\/a> Sando Construction will manage this project as part of the joint venture (UTE) alongside service companies Mundo and Salzillo. <\/p>\n\n<p>The new bridge coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Caminito del Rey&#8217;s reopening. Sando Construction originally executed the Caminito del Rey project alone, which has since received numerous international awards and significantly boosted the region&#8217;s economic and social activity. According to the M\u00e1laga Provincial Government, the project will have a budget of \u20ac1.25 million.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A 35-Tonne Bridge<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>The expansion project will affect the final section of the trail, just before reaching the area above the train&#8217;s iron bridge and the El Chorro tunnel. The new bridge will be supported by two main sustainable cables, each weighing 4,500 kilograms of steel. It will be situated at a maximum height of approximately 50 metres and feature a descending slope with a 7% gradient. After the bridge, pathways will be adapted leading to the end of the Caminito del Rey route.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Sando Construction will handle the assembly and installation. As with the comprehensive restoration of the Caminito del Rey, helicopters and specialised professionals for vertical works will be required. The bridge, along with the auxiliary structures, will weigh around 35 tonnes. <\/p>\n\n<p>The project\u2019s presentation was attended by the mayors of \u00c1lora, Francisco Mart\u00ednez; Ardales, Juan Alberto Naranjo; the Mayor of Valle de Abdalaj\u00eds, Virginia Romero; the Councillor of Antequera, Ana Cebri\u00e1n; and Francisco V\u00e1zquez, manager of the UTE.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Caminito del Rey is a model project of sustainable development and environmental respect.
