Integral environmental services\" target=\"_blank\">Althenia Sando<\/a> has collaborated on the publication of the book <em>El Jard\u00edn del Recuerdo: \u00e1rboles para la eternidad<\/em>, (The Garden of Remembrance: Trees for Eternity) edited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/parcema.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parque Cementerio de M\u00e1laga<\/a> (Parcemasa). The book, co-authored by \u00c1ngel Enrique Salvo Tierra, Rafael Guerrero G\u00f3mez, Roc\u00edo Guerrero del R\u00edo, and Pablo Cozano P\u00e9rez, highlights the botanical heritage of the recently inaugurated green space of the same name. <\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cFlora is the very essence of the Garden of Remembrance, and the tree is its central symbol and defining feature. The symbolism associated with each species plays a meaningful role in spaces devoted to remembrance and eternal rest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>Through these opening lines, the authors describe the role of each species found in the garden and the significance they aimed to give to the overall design.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the book launch, attended by Enrique Salvo, Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uma.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of M\u00e1laga\u2019s Chair of Climate Change<\/a>, Fernando Orellana, President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/amciencias.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M\u00e1laga Academy of Sciences<\/a>, and Pen\u00e9lope G\u00f3mez, M\u00e1laga <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malaga.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">City Councillor<\/a> for Environmental <a href=\"\/en\/sustainability\" title=\"Sustainable and efficient environmental solutions\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainability<\/a>, the speakers reflected on some of the key messages conveyed in the book.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cThe versatility of the tree as a symbol is undoubtedly the central theme of this garden. Trees form the heart of each individual plot and serve as points of connection and identification with those laid to rest there,\u201d said Salvo Tierra.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A milestone in garden conservation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>The Garden of Remembrance itself, located at the San Gabriel Cemetery, presents a unique challenge in terms of conservation, due to the diversity of species it encompasses. <a href=\"\/en\/althenia-sando\" title=\"Integral environmental services\" target=\"_blank\">Althenia<\/a> Sando is currently responsible for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/en\/proyectos\/malaga-cemetery-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">upkeep <\/a>of green spaces, landscaped areas, and trees at the Parque Cementerio de M\u00e1laga, which includes the cemeteries of San Gabriel, the Historical Cemetery of San Miguel, San Juan, San Antonio, Ol\u00edas, and San Rafael. <\/p>\n\n<p>The publication of this book contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 15: Life on Land, which promotes the conservation of terrestrial ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n<p>The book is available free of charge at Parcemasa, and can also be consulted at municipal libraries and through the <a href=\"https:\/\/amja.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/El-Jardin-del-Recuerdo-1-comprimido-1-38.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">following <\/a><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"801\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sando.com\/contenido\/subidas\/2025\/07\/jardindelrecuerdo2-copia.jpg\" alt=\"Althenia Sando has participated in the preparation of the book El Jard&#xED;n del Recuerdo: &#xE1;rboles para la eternidad, published by the Parque Cementerio de M&#xE1;laga, Parcemasa.
