Sando has inaugurated its new installations in La Rinconada, Seville. Javier Fernández de los Ríos, the Mayor of La Rinconada presided the event accompanied by the Chairman of the Sando Group José Luis Sánchez Domínguez, and the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Luis Sánchez Manzano.
The Innovation, Science and Company Council Delegate in Seville, Francisco Álvaro Julio, and also numerous representatives from various public administrations and businessmen, met together in the new La Rinconada offices from which a guided visit was organised in order to become more closely acquainted with the operation of the Sando companies operating from there.
The complex consists of a new aggregate treatment plant, two concrete and mortar manufacturing plants, two macadam coating manufacturing plants, and a fleet of trucks for supplying customers. Auxiliary buildings are also included, such as a warehouse, workshops, and a completely new 1,000 metre office building where the inauguration act took place.
On one of the exploited sites which was later restored, the Sando Group has a photovoltaic solar plant capable of producing 180,000 kilowatts of clean energy per year.
The working site that Sando has had for more than twenty years in La Rinconada, has experienced considerable growth and reorganisation that has converted it into an exemplary plant on a national level. The new installations are centred mainly on a model of sustainable exploitation of aggregates from the environmental point of view.
The aggregate mining is carried out in an admirable way. Starting off from a natural arable land situation, the topsoil is removed and put aside, and also the inert layer until reaching the aggregate which is mined and treated at the plant.
On each site Sando later carries out the following improvements: the previous space occupied by the aggregate is refilled with previously treated and selected rubble. The previously removed inert layer is put back in place, and then the topsoil on top of the same. In this way the land is regenerated, oxygenated, levelled off and suitable again as agricultural arable land.
The Sando Materiales and Supply area is one of the oldest divisions in the Group and which, apart from supplying specialised and specific building materials, carries out it entire activity with a scrupulous respect for the environment.
Sando is a group of companies with more than thirty years of experience in the building trade, which has diversified its activities and has experienced solid growth and constant service to society in general. In 2006 Sando reached a total turnover of 759.5 million Euros, which was an increase of 46% over and above the previous year. The forecast for 2007 is the consolidation of the continuous evolution of the Group, with a turnover of 1,150 million Euros.
Committed to the requirements of current society, Sando lays its stakes on sustainable development simultaneously with respect for the environment. Risks at work prevention, the maintenance of strict quality criteria, training, and Corporate Social Responsibility are its main objectives.
