Integrated industrial waste management is collecting, transporting, treating and recycling waste materials produced by industrial activity. Efficient waste management is a complex process and requires the participation of waste producers, authorities, and specialised waste management companies.

Managing industrial waste, particularly in specific industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electronics or the food industry, is fundamental to ensuring environmental protection and human health.

Sando Conservación y Energía provides waste management services covering all processes and operations, from waste collection through to final treatment, with the primary objective of either disposing of it safely or recovering it for the sustainable and environmentally responsible production of new materials.

The main objective of integrated waste management is based on the 3R rule, i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle waste materials. Reduce through the implementation of sustainable practices in the industry’s production processes that allow the amount of waste generated to be reduced. Reuse by giving them an additional useful life. Recycling through the use of the materials contained in waste for manufacturing new products. In addition, prevention is added as an initial phase to raise the stakeholders’ awareness (in this case, the industry concerned) about waste generation at source.

Sando Conservación y Energía integrates these 3Rs into the services it provides to clients, offering an appropriate waste collection and transport system to ensure that waste is moved and stored safely according to the specific type of waste involved. It also has specialized facilities and technologies, such as industrial composting plants, to ensure the sustainable treatment and final disposal of waste. Different treatments are implemented depending on the type of waste in the waste transformation and recycling process. Firstly, chemical, physical and biological treatments to transform waste into less harmful materials and reuse them as raw materials. Secondly, by companies, incineration, sometimes creating energy, provided that the waste is non-toxic and can be treated this way. And thirdly, landfill in safe landfills that guarantee no environmental pollution.

Through the projects developed in R&D&i that integrate the circular economy into their processes, new industrial alternatives are created that generate significant economic savings for companies through optimising production processes, reducing costs associated with their inadequate management, and guaranteeing environmental sustainability in the medium and long term.

Among these research projects developed by the group, it is worth highlighting Recycled Aggregates. This project uses materials from construction waste to construct road surfaces. .
