The Consorcio para la gestión de los Residuos Sólidos de Asturias (COGERSA) has awarded Conacon Sando, in a joint venture, the execution of a refuelling station for natural gas vehicles that will complement the existing diesel supply installation at COGERSA’s Waste Treatment Centre in La Zoreda, in Serín, Gijón. In this way, a refuelling station will be provided for the new compressed natural gas (CNG) and hybrid trucks that are planned to be incorporated into COGERSA’s vehicle fleet.
The station will be supplied with natural gas from the existing network on the property, increasing its pressure to a maximum value of 250 bar for subsequent supply to vehicles. For its execution, three sectors will be fitted out: a regulation and measurement station area suitable for the flow rates demanded by the compressor equipment; a compression area and CNG cylinder buffer with a volume of 6,720 litres, and a filling area with a CNG dispenser with a double hose.
In each of these sectors, Conacon Sando will carry out the installation activities of the different equipment: the gas receiver, compression and cylinder buffer, filling, as well as the auxiliary installations. The civil works and installation will take into account the specific needs of the equipment, compliance with current legislation and the reduction of environmental impact.
Specialisation in sustainable mobility
Compressed natural gas (CNG) can be used in vehicles with a lower environmental impact than other fuels derived from petroleum, as it allows a reduction in the emission of components such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrous oxides (NOx), hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides or carbon dioxide (CO2). Furthermore, as it does not contain sulphur, heavy metals, lead or toxic additives, it has a lower environmental risk in case of leakage and dissipates more easily through the air in ventilated areas.
As a company specialising in sustainable mobility solutions, Conacon Sando offers services such as the execution of this gas station project, within the framework of its energy business area. With the implementation of this type of project, the company provides public administrations and companies with new, less polluting mobility systems, thus contributing to environmental protection and the decarbonisation of the economy in line with Sustainable Development Goal 13 ‘Acción por el clima’.
