The Tenerife Inter-Island Council has awarded Sando Construcción the contract for the remodelling of the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias in the municipality of Candelaria. These works have a budget of more than sixteen million euros.
As communicated by the Council, the works will be carried out on an area of approximately 20,000 square metres, in which the improvement of the hydraulic piping and the drainage of this space will be undertaken.
Sando Construcción will refurbish in three phases. The first will cover the seafront promenade, with a surface area of 3,431 square metres. The second, larger, corresponds to the Plaza de la Patrona, with a surface area of 13,640 square metres. Finally, work will be carried out on the 2,354 square metre Plaza de los Artesanos.
The project includes the resurfacing of this large square. Work will continue on the Paseo de San Blas and Cueva de los Camellos and will involve the pedestrianisation of Calle Antón Guanche, which will be transformed into a linear open space at its upper end.
As part of the remodelling work, a ramp will be built in the Plaza de La Patrona, which will be used for the construction of a space, the “ramp building”, which will house a sacred museum, a multifunctional hall and a tourist office. This new building will have a total floor area of 1,073.31 square metres.
Sando Construcción will apply its five decades of experience in the remodelling and refurbishment of public spaces to this project, taking special care of the works, especially with the Basilica, a Site of Cultural Interest and a place of worship and pilgrimage of the Virgin of Candelaria.
