The Government of Andalusia has awarded Sando for its longstanding commitment to promoting health and safety in the workplace. The recognition took place at the Government Delegation in Malaga on the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, in a ceremony presided over by Carmen Sánchez Sierra, Territorial Delegate for Employment, Enterprise and Self-Employment in Malaga.
“In 2024, Sando celebrated its 50th anniversary, and throughout this time it has upheld a strong commitment to the health and safety of its more than 2,400 employees, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment,” stated Carmen Sánchez Sierra as she opened her speech, highlighting the company’s major milestones that earned it the award.
The Delegate stressed that Sando was a pioneer in obtaining international certifications in occupational health and safety, starting with OHSAS 18001, and was one of the first companies in Spain to certify its Health and Safety Management System under ISO 45001 in 2019.

Sando’s Director General of Construction, Jaime Rodríguez Donnelly, and Head of Prevention, Federico Artola Küstner, received the award from Violeta Aragón Correa, Secretary General of the Malaga Association of Builders and Developers.
In his acceptance speech, Rodríguez Donnelly underscored Sando’s long-standing philosophy: “We have maintained this commitment since the company’s founding more than 50 years ago, and today it remains a strategic pillar within Sando’s Sustainability Master Plan.”
Other award recipients included the company Facsa-Prolongo, the Andalusian Government’s Tobacco Cessation Table programme at the Malaga Centre for the Prevention of Occupational Risks, and the Territorial Delegation for Education, Vocational Training, Universities, Research and Innovation in Malaga.
The ceremony was attended by a wide range of institutional representatives, including Antonio Jesús García Acedo, Territorial Delegate for Economy, Finance, European Funds, and Industry, Energy and Mines in Malaga; Miguel Briones Artacho, Territorial Delegate for Education and Universities; María Teresa Pardo, Territorial Delegate for Justice, Local Administration and Public Service; and Natalia Sánchez Romero, Executive Vice-President and Secretary General of the Malaga Business Confederation, among others.
