Conacon Sando, the company awarded the public tender, has completed the construction of a new natural gas vehicle refuelling station for the Consortium for the Management of Solid Waste of Asturias (COGERSA). The facility is located at the Waste Treatment Centre in La Zoreda, Serín (Gijón).
This new installation complements the existing diesel supply infrastructure and provides refuelling capacity for COGERSA’s new fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) and hybrid trucks.
The project was developed by Conacon Sando in a joint venture, fully tailored to the client’s technical and operational requirements, meeting all tender specifications and quality standards. The station is supplied from the property’s existing natural gas network, with pressure boosted up to 250 bar to ensure efficient vehicle refuelling.
The project comprises three clearly defined sections:
Conacon Sando carried out the installation of all main components — gas reception unit, compressor, storage system and dispenser — along with all necessary auxiliary systems. The civil works were executed in strict compliance with the technical specifications for each component, current regulations and Sustainability criteria to minimise environmental impact.
This project reinforces Conacon Sando’s expertise in sustainable mobility solutions within its energy business area. The refuelling station contributes to the decarbonisation of both public and private transport, aligning with COGERSA’s 2024–2027 Strategic Plan, Sando’s Sustainability Master Plan, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action), by promoting the use of alternative fuels with a lower environmental footprint.
