The Sando group has provided ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) training to 33 companies and 40 participants through its involvement in the third edition of the Sustainable Suppliers programme, organised by the UN Global Compact Spain in partnership with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment and the ICO Foundation. The programme comprises 30 hours of training aimed at familiarising the company’s suppliers and partners with new regulations and key aspects related to Sustainability management.
These encouraging results show that companies linked to Sando have exceeded the expected level of ESG training for the target supply chain.
At the end of 2024, Sando joined this initiative as part of its Sustainability Master Plan 2025–2028, with the objective of providing its suppliers with specialised sustainability training. During this period, Sando has succeeded in ensuring that participating companies become familiar with new regulatory requirements and key elements of ESG management.
The Sustainability Department at Sando made use of the resources proposed by the UN Global Compact to disseminate information on online training courses through electronic communications, practical guides featuring case studies from other companies, performance assessments, monitoring of modules and content, and the preparation of regulatory documentation. This work was promoted transversally across Sando’s organisational structure, with the support of the Management Systems and Procurement departments, which personally encouraged suppliers and collaborators to take part.
The initiative received an excellent response from participating suppliers, achieving an average satisfaction rating of 9 out of 10. In addition, 94.4% of respondents expressed their interest in taking part in future sustainability training programmes and positively valued the launch of this initiative by the company.
This week, the official results of the third edition of the Sustainable Suppliers training programme, led by the UN Global Compact Spain, ICEX and the ICO Foundation, were announced. According to the programme organisers, more than 2,300 SME suppliers from over 72 countries were trained in this latest edition. Since its launch in 2023, the programme has provided training to more than 5,000 supplier companies worldwide.
For Sando, reaching 84% of its target supply chain companies in its first participation represents a significant milestone. This initiative is directly aligned with its Sustainability Master Plan 2025–2028, which includes a strategic line focused on responsible value-chain management. This plan serves as the company’s ESG roadmap for the coming years.
