The most common street cleaning systems are sweeping and pressure washing, although other methods and machinery may sometimes be required, such as air jets, vacuuming, or scrubbing. In either case, the waste collected is subsequently integrated into municipal waste treatment circuits.

Sweeping removes dirt from the road surface through pressurised water jets that carry it to the nearest manholes. It can also be mechanised, manual, or both.

Vacuuming is a mechanised technique used to absorb and deposit in a tank incorporated in the machine all the waste that cannot be collected by manual sweeping, which is then emptied into the transporters that take it to controlled landfills and waste treatment plants.

For the removal of spontaneous vegetation, manual and mechanical methods are used, as well as the application of eco-friendly herbicides with organic active ingredients that are environmentally respectful. Sando Conservación y Energía also uses mulching in its services, a process that involves applying plant matter or other shredded material as a loose layer over the soil to protect and nourish it.
