Sando has once again confirmed its adhesion to the Training Programme: Sustainable Suppliers, an initiative promoted by the UN Global Compact Spain, ICEX and the ICO Foundation, which has established itself as a benchmark training project for strengthening Sustainability in supply chains.
This renewal is part of Sando’s Sustainability Master Plan, and, specifically, in Strategic Line 3: responsible value chain, developed through its Sustainable Procurement Policy, aimed at integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria in the processes of selection, evaluation and relationship with supplier companies.
In its fourth edition, the Sustainable Suppliers Programme has reached a new record of participation, with more than 6,700 supplier companies and more than 8,000 employees registered, which is almost triple the figure recorded in its first edition, launched in 2022. Currently, the initiative has the support of 54 large Spanish companies, including entities that are repeating this year, such as Sando.
The program offers free training in corporate sustainability, with a specific focus on the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, addressing key aspects such as human rights, labor standards, the environment, and the fight against corruption.
Among the main novelties of this edition is the expansion of its international scope, with the participation of SMEs from 87 countries. Likewise, online sessions have been incorporated differentiated by levels, with content for both beginner companies and those with a higher degree of maturity in sustainability, including topics such as the definition of ESG strategies, the calculation of scope 3 emissions or the development of circular economy models.
Sando renews his commitment to the program after the results obtained during his first participation. In that year, the company exceeded the initial training target by 54%, showing the high degree of supplier involvement and the positive impact of the programme in improving their sustainability capabilities.
With this renewal, Sando aims to continue offering its suppliers the opportunity to receive free quality training in sustainability. In addition, it reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of good sustainability practices throughout its value chain, fostering responsible, transparent relationships aligned with the principles of sustainable development. Sando is thus making progress in the consolidation of a responsible business model, consistent with global challenges and aligned with its strategic plan.
